EURAXESS Auvergne Services Centre

The Euraxess Auvergne Center (CEA) aims to facilitate the stay of foreign researchers on assignment in Auvergne, at sites associated with the University Clermont Auvergne and its partners.

The CEA is a member of the EURAXESS European Network, which currently includes over 200 centers in 37 countries. EURAXESS is an initiative of the European Commission designed to promote researcher mobility in Europe and ensure the attractiveness of the European Research Area.

The Euraxess Auvergne Center at the University Clermont Auvergne and Associates serves as the regional branch of the EURAXESS network and is the main contact point for administrative procedures related to hosting foreign researchers.

Operational since January 2009, the CEA has supported nearly 100 researchers from over 20 countries across 12 institutions in the region.

Who can contact the EURAXESS Auvergne Center?

The CEA serves as the primary contact for doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, researchers, and lecturer-researchers coming to Auvergne on mobility programs. It also assists hosting researchers in anticipating and preparing for the arrival of their foreign colleagues within laboratories.

The CEA primarily supports research units affiliated with the University Clermont Auvergne and Associates.

What service are offered?

International researchers can benefit from support provided by the CEA in areas such as (non-exhaustive list):

  • entry and residence formalities: Information on hosting agreements, visa applications, and residence permits.
  • Housing assistance: Personalized housing offers (apartments, hotel residences, studios in university residences, etc.) and a list of useful contacts.
  • Insurance procedures: Guidance on social security, mutual health insurance, workplace accident coverage, and home insurance.
  • Practical life: Information on school enrollment and childcare, French language courses in Clermont-Ferrand, and opening a bank account in France.
