Le iGReD (Laboratoire de Génétique, Reproduction et Développement) cherche à comprendre les mécanismes moléculaires et cellulaires qui contr?lent la formation d'un organisme eucaryote à partir d'un oeuf fécondé. Les équipes qui le composent, analysent les systèmes de surveillance et de réparation qui maintiennent l'intégrité des génomes. Elles étudient comment d'une cellule indifférenciée, divisions et différenciations cellulaires conduisent à la formation d'un individu harmonieusement développé.

Prolongeant ces aspects fondamentaux, des approches médicales visent à élucider le programme génétique d'une cellule saine, identifier les dérégulations de certaines pathologies, et trouver des thérapeutiques adaptées.

Cette unité se décline en trois thèmes majeurs:

    Dynamique du génome et contr?le épigénétique,

    Reproduction et développement normal et pathologique

    Endocrinologie et signalisation,

Les approches utilisées allient biologie moléculaire et cellulaire, imagerie et cribles génétiques. L'utilisation de plusieurs modèles eucaryotes (vertébrés, insectes, plantes) permet d'exploiter les avantages particuliers de chacun.

Research in the GReD concerns the molecular and cellular mechanisms brought into play to ensure maintenance of genome integrity and gene expression, differentiation and development. Our research concerns three major themes:

    Genome dynamics and epigenetic control

    reproduction and development in health and disease

    Endocrinology and signaling

The three research axes thus combine molecular and cellular biology approaches, imaging and genetic screens. The use of multiple biological models (vertebrates, insects, plants) permits us to exploit the particular advantages of each for research and experimentation. This work, and notably the study of human genetic diseases including cancer, has great potential for technology transfer to clinical applications - in line with our strategic scientific policy to strengthen the continuum between basic and clinical research.
